Green Circle Trails from Skye Peak

GREAT EASTERN

Green Circle Trails from Skye Peak There is really only one option for green circle level skiers and riders after being delivered to Skye Peak from the Skyeship Gondola, the short connector trail that leads to Great Eastern. After exiting the gondola, go to your left. After a short bit, you'll see the staging area.

Great Eastern is a long, long trail if you take it to it's terminus at the Skyeship Base Lodge. Navigating the upper section of this trail can be challenging for snowboarders to maintain enough speed to be able to traverse the flat upper section to beyond where the Skye Peak Express Quad offloads. Once past this point, the rest of the upper part of the trail is of sufficient grade to easily maintain a comfortable speed.

Leaving the staging area, Great Eastern starts out with a gentle grade that looks like it continues straight ahead into a wide trail. Don't be fooled. At the base of this short grade you must make a 180 degree turn to the left in order to stay on Great Eastern. Bearly and Northbrook Crossover trails You will encounter a flat to slightly uphill section that will lead to lower Skye Peak where the Skye Peak Quad terminates. Great Eastern turns to the left and dips around the backside and under this lift station to emerge at the top of a twisty turny section with lots of opportunity to take a wrong turn. Pay attention to trail markers and you will eventually arrive at the vista deck hut on your left.

From the vista deck hut, the lower section of the trail is less intimidating as it winds its way through the woods to eventually emerge at the Skyeship Base Lodge. There are a couple of flat sections that snowboarders may not be able to traverse without having sufficient speed going in. Otherwise, the lower section is more relaxing and a lot of fun.

Highlander Trail

If you want to go to Bear Mountain Lodge from the lower section of Great Eastern, take the green circle trail Bearly. If you want to go to the K-1 Lodge, Snowshed Lodge or Ramshead Lodge, take the green circle trail Northbrook Crossover to the Skyeship Gondola mid station, and take the Northbrook Quad chair lift to the top of Snowshead slope. To get to the K-1 Base Lodge, go straight and then bear right and take Highlander to the Superstar Quad chair lift and on to the K-1 Base Lodge. For Snowshed or Ramshead Lodge, go down Snowshed to get to the Snowshed Lodge. Go through the tunnel under the access road to get to Ramshead Lodge.
