Bear Mountain Base Lodge

Bear Mountain Base Lodge

Bear Mountain Base Lodge is one of two base lodges that are out in left field relative to the rest of the resort. Some folks think this is a good thing, and make Bear Mountain their base for that reason. On those cold January days, Bear Mountain gets the sun first because of its southern exposure. Besides warming your bones a bit, this also softens the snow for more edge hold on those hard charging high G force turns. It's also a bit closer than the main resort area if you're coming north on I-89, or I-91.

Drive to Bear Mountain Base Lodge by taking East Mountain Road, next to the Skyeship Base Lodge, off of Route 4. About a mile up East Mountain Road, Bear Mountain Road turns off to the left and leads to the spacious parking area.

Bear Mountain is a favorite of expert skiers and riders because of the concentration of black diamond trails, and the more difficult glades and terrain parks. There are two lifts to choose from, the Bear Mountain Quad services the trails from the top of Bear Mountain, and the Skye Peak Express Quad services the trails from lower Skye Peak.
